We’re just less than 13 weeks until we open our doors to one of our biggest Truck Festivals ever with the platinum-selling George Ezra, cult heroes Courteeners and indie-comeback-kings Friendly Fires.
We’re aware some attendees may have faced some issues last year but rest assured, all feedback has been taken on board and we are full steam ahead to assure our 21st is the best Truck yet!
Here’s an update of the behind the scenes here at Truck HQ to see what’s in place at this year’s event to ensure you have the most wonderful Truck experience you can have.
Firstly we’re extremely excited to be teaming up with Elissa Gold Events to present our new improved Family and Kids Area: The Village Green. Packed to the rafters with activities throughout the weekend. Including Circus Skills, Egg & Spoon Races, Campfire Story-Telling, Craft School and even all-ages Morning Yoga. Check it out here
Security and Stewarding:
After a few years of continued growth of Truck we felt it was the appropriate time to review our security provider for 2018. We conducted a careful tender and review process was conducted after the event has culminated in securing Showsec as our new security provider for 2018.
As some of you are already probably aware Showsec are responsible for managing some of the larger festivals in the UK (Reading & Leeds, Bestival, Download, Wireless etc) as well as managing many of the biggest arena shows. What we especially liked when contracting them is that they have a large presence in the Oxfordshire and Berkshire area, meaning that those who will be working on the festival are from the area and are already familiar with the event and their track record for working in the most efficient and safe manner.
We have ensured that the number of security allocated for this year’s event are increasing well above the increased rate of attendance with more security staff being deployed at the event from 2017.
While some form of queuing on entry will always happen at any festival. We want to ensure that we are able to get people into the event as quickly as possible without compromising the safety of those in attendance, especially in today’s unfortunate climate.
As a result of the feedback from Truck 2017, we have put a large focus on reviewing the entry process for 2018.. We have made a few changes to our entry plans for this year’s festival that we are confident will alleviate the issues regarding entry queuing, these have been outlined below.
Expanding Truck to four days is something we’ve wanted to do for a while. Following overwhelming demand displayed in the Truck 2017 customer feedback survey, the council gave us sign off to open Truck 2018 with a special Thursday offering.
This will effectively split the amount of those attending the festival 30:70 making a significant reduction in the number of people heading to the site on Friday reducing the impact on the road network and the stress on the queues.
The Thursday add-on gives you Truckers the opportunity to nab your spot in the campsite early while catching some great music to really kick off the weekend in style.

In addition to this, we have also started our programming later on Friday by 1.5 hours, to give you the time to leisurely get to the festival and pitch your tent before heading to catch your favourite bands.
There will be a significant increase in lanes upon entry – which, in turn, will be manned by more Security to reduce the waiting time upon arrival. Search lanes will also be undercover – in case of wet weather to protect any belongings.
Additional Entry Gates:
Another new initiative for 2018 involves adding additional gates that are specific for certain customers. For example; the main entrance gate is purely for those who will be camping in the main and quiet campsites or being dropped off at the event.
Zodiac, Family and Glamping customers will have their own entrance and car park located next to their camping facilities. While those travelling on foot will be able to head to their own separate entrance that is linked to Steventon Village.
We’re introducing campsite management offices into campsites in 2018. Each will be manned 24 hours a day and will be the best port of call for any issues you may have during your time at Truck Festival. These offices will have direct contact with all Security personnel. Whether it’s rude neighbours, directions or not enough toilet roll, our Campsite Managers are here to help!
Traffic Management improvement
We are continuing to work hard with the local Oxfordshire Council and the Oxfordshire Highways to ensure that Truck has everything in place to ensure you get to the festival as quickly and safely as possible! The Shuttle Bus service will return in 2018, with a new and improved route into the site. This will now drop you off in the General Car Park rather than through the Steventon Village.
We will be communicating our new entry and car park plans shortly to all ticket holders to ensure you know exactly where to go!
If you do have any further questions please feel free to get in touch by email email@example.com at any time and we’ll be happy to help.
We’d love for you to be a part of it
