Chiika may not have grown up playing instruments or learning music theory, but she did grow up writing English versions of foreign-language songs and uploading them to YouTube. Lockdown convinced her that even if she wasn’t a ‘proper musician’, nothing could stop her writing words to free beats from the internet. Two EPs later, chiika’s music is ever-changing, genre-defying, mixing the East of her Indian heritage with the West of her British upbringing – but always unmistakably her. Expect pop-fusion, the whole spectrum of emotions, and a very, very good time!
