Chloe August makes sad music with her voice and her guitar. Before she ever performed her original songs, she performed poetry, but undergoing a near-death experience at 21 gave her the courage to share her music as well. “Now I have a very interesting relationship with death. It’s almost as if death is something that is behind me; it feels like an old friend lingering at my shoulder.” In her song ’25’, she sings “I’m older, It’s colder and the year’s closing out. I was pretty sure I’d be someone by now. And my mum’s always proud that I’m still breathing.” She won the New voices Competition run by Union Chapel x Lyrix Organic and supported award-winning poet Sophia Thakur at Union Chapel in December 2021. Her upcoming single ‘Something Better’ was recently played on BBC Radio Oxfordshire by BBC introducing.
