“Lingering spell-craft of multi-layered acappella vocals” Songlines

In September 2021, Katy released 7th album, Alone On A Hill: a beautiful, emotionally raw yet ultimately joyful collection of multi-layered, a cappella vocal songs. It was written and recorded during lockdown and inspired by living in rural isolation on a hill on the edge of Birmingham for the last year: songs of birds, trees, the wind; songs of surviving, growing peas and longing to sing with other people; Katy cites Brian Wilson, Bjork and Bobby McFerrin as particular influences.

In Autumn 2021, Katy formed a cappella vocal quartet The Frankley Beeches to recreate this unique album live. More recently she’s been thrilling crowds playing solo with her new Gretsch electric, supporting Danny George Wilson on tour.
