Starting with musical forays on a drum kit at the age of 10, making noise in the quiet, rural village of Thurston in Suffolk where he grew up, aka Adam Levey has never looked back, his love affair with music quickly gravitating toward the guitar, song writing and self-production. Now residing in Leeds, this self-sufficient, multi-instrumentalist now spends most days in his bedroom, chipping away at his distinctive sound.
Wax works’ proclaims his sound to be a ‘love child’ of indie pop stars and , and 80s disco and funk. Early influences and seem to also bubble up through his riff-based choruses and use of fuzzy guitar tones. Each of Adam’s 2021 singles expanded his audience, with his latest offering ‘know no better’ being featured in Jack Saunders’ ‘next wave’ on BBC Radio 1, and getting accolades and airplay from Gemma Bradley (BBCR1), Chris Hawkins (6Music) and Emily Pilbeam (BBC Introducing). Autumn 2021, saw wax works taking his sound live.
