Guest-List: SPINN
“IT’S A BIG DEAL”
Next in our series of Guest-list, we speak to Liverpudlian foursome SPINN about their Truck excitement and they offer their top picks for Truck Festival 2019!
“We’re dead excited to be playing truck this year!” drummer Louis O’Reilly says. “The rest of the boys went in 2017 so I think it’s a big deal for them to be playing a festival that they have previously been to. It’s the weekend between mine and [lead singer] Johnny’s birthdays as well so reckon the Oxfordshire countryside will be an appropriate setting for us to celebrate.”
Louis offers a 15 song-glimpse of what is on offer this year, in what is a mixture of “throwbacks and really good new music.”
- Spector – ‘Friday Night, Don’t Let it End’ – “Reminds me of being 15 year olds and saving up a weeks worth of dinner money to cop a gig ticket and a litre bottle of frosty jacks”
- Sugarthief – ‘Modern Man’ – “If I could put the whole Sugarthief EP in there I would as well but I could only choose one. Probably one of the most promising new bands I’ve heard in a really long time.”
- Easy Life – ‘Pockets’ – “FIFA 19.”
SPINN’s hotly tipped debut lands May 3rd! “It’s a collection of tunes that have basically been written over the past 3 years since we first started as a band so there is mixture of *classics* and also tunes that I believe thoroughly demonstrate our abilities as songwriters and musicians.” But it’s not just Indie bangers though, “there are like 2 ballads on there where we polished the dust off the old piano which I particularly think may surprise people.”
But most importantly, the (frankly-grim) answer to the question on all of our lips.. “I’m really into mash potato sandwiches at the moment, will pack a few for the festival.”
